Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, who is considered close to Hillary Clinton’s team, stated this in an interview with Kommersant.
“Only a madman would start a war with Russia. It doesn’t even matter whether Putin is good or not, whether Russia is doing bad or good in Crimea and Syria. The main thing is that Russia has the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world (after, perhaps, the United States) and there is still the possibility of mutual nuclear destruction. This reality has existed for decades, and it has ensured that there will never be a direct military conflict between Washington and Moscow. And Hillary Clinton understands that there can be no war between Russia and the United States. She's not crazy," says McFaul.
