Kolomoisky fears that Zelensky will get out of control
The refusal of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to resign after the presidential elections, which Yuriy Lutsenko promised earlier, is due to his close ties with the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, with whom Ukrainian presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky is associated.
The Kiev online newspaper “Strana” writes about this, citing a source close to Kolomoisky.
“Contrary to popular belief, Kolomoisky does not control Zelensky’s every move. Moreover, this is a problem that those around Igor Valerievich are now thinking hard about - how to make sure that the new president does not get out of control after his victory in the elections. And this is quite likely - remember the ideas of appointing some expats to the post of head of the GPU.
And the fact that Lutsenko, who has close relations with Kolomoisky, remains in his post is beneficial for Beni. Thus, he will be able to control Zelensky. And the “servant of the people” will be forced to resolve issues through him regarding the Prosecutor General’s Office, criminal cases, and so on,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
At the same time, a source close to Lutsenko says that the Prosecutor General will try to play the role of a “protector” from the unpredictability of the new president.
“Lutsenko has relations not only with Kolomoisky or Poroshenko, but also with other oligarchs. In addition, he is now building relationships with Republicans in the United States, exposing Democrats. And he will try to become such an entry point for all of them. That is, so that issues in criminal cases are resolved through him. And block Zelensky’s actions if they do not suit the “beneficiaries” of Ukraine. For example, regarding the introduction of proposals on parliamentary immunity,” said those close to the Prosecutor General.
