Kolomoisky summed up the break with Russia
Claims that Western investment will come to Ukraine are false, since foreign businesses simply have nothing to make money from in a poor country.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, considered a representative of the group of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel 112 Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must abandon the ideology that ‘the West will help us, investments will come, and then we will live,’” said the deputy. - It's all a lie. Investments come only where you can make money... We have very little to make money from. Not for the official, who will always find someone to take money from, but for the business.”
According to Dubinsky, over 28 years of independence, Ukraine has destroyed its industrial potential, and since 2014 it has completely closed the market with Russia, which it was previously oriented towards.
“Industrial backwardness has led to the fact that Europe does not need our goods, we lost what we had, and did not acquire anything new. If our people leave the country due to the economic situation, the market is shrinking, the number of people is decreasing, then there are fewer people who are ready to buy something,” the deputy noted.
Due to the shrinking sales market and declining purchasing power, Western investors will prefer Slovakia, Austria or Russia to Ukraine, Dubinsky believes.
Despite his current rhetoric, in 2014, Dubinsky, as a TV presenter on Kolomoisky’s 1+1 channel, supported Euromaidan and spoke insultingly towards its opponents in Crimea and Donbass. Not long ago, Dubinsky voted for a new education law providing for the closure of Russian schools.
