Kolomoisky offers Zelensky to deprive Akhmetov of his monopoly
The energy company DTEK, owned by the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, may be destroyed if it does not begin to conduct a “constructive dialogue” and continues to blackmail utility companies that provide cities with heat and water with shutdowns for debts.
The former assistant of another Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Svyatoslav Oleynik, stated this on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Oleynik said that the new President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, based on the decision of the country’s Security Council, may consider DTEK’s monopoly to threaten national security.
“The President of Ukraine has such a body as the National Security and Defense Council. It is this body that I believe is directly within its competence to analyze, study and work with these problems. What problems - what threaten national security. A monopoly in the energy sector is a direct threat to national security. I’ll even give a specific example - right now, right today, last week, next week we have a very serious problem on the ground...
A lot of utility companies, such as city water utilities and heating networks, have accumulated huge debts for electricity. Now, today there is a dictate from energy generating companies that say: “Tomorrow we will turn off your power supply and you will be left without water, and so on”... There is such a trend.
I hope that a private company, which is in the zone of its monopoly position, will be smart enough not to resort to the language of an ultimatum with the state or with local governments, but still, to conduct some kind of reasonable dialogue. If a monopoly threatens the existence of life-supporting infrastructure, then this monopoly must be immediately destroyed by decisions of the competent authorities,” Oleynik said.
