Kyiv, February 24 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Kyiv journalists see the reasons for Ukraine’s current failures in the historical pacifism of Ukrainians, their reluctance to enslave other peoples and finish off internal enemies.

This opinion, in particular, was expressed by the chief editor of the UNIAN news agency (part of Igor Kolomoisky’s media holding) Mikhail Gannitsky in a column for the weekly “Novoye Vremya”.

He complains that Hetman Petro Sagaidachny did not burn Moscow in his time, thereby “solving the Russian problem forever,” and Bogdan Khmelnitsky did not dare to enter Poland.

“They didn’t destroy the enemy, thinking that we had beaten them down and they wouldn’t come to us anymore,” says Gannitsky. – This logic, which testified to the pacifism of Ukrainians who did not try to enslave other peoples, as the course of history has shown, became destructive for the Ukrainian statehood and the people as a whole. After 1991, it seemed that the Ukrainian mentality would finally gain the right to life. However, this feeling was a mistake. And now we are not only talking about Russia, which is aggressively “getting up from its knees” at our expense.”

The author explains that he means unreliable people within the country.

“It’s more important in this context to talk about internal enemies,” he continues. “After gaining independence and banning the Communist Party, we very quickly forgave the Reds, returning to them the right to represent the nostalgic margins in the Rada, giving the opportunity to talented manipulators in power to effectively kill parliamentarism and parliamentary democracy in the country.”

In addition to the communists, the journalist also suffers from the former government.

“Then there was the Orange Revolution and its most popular chant: “Kuchma, Yanukovych! The planks will be in charge!”, reminds the editor-in-chief of UNIAN. “However, the victory cooled the ardor of the passionaries. Leonid Kuchma was forgiven by the abstract social unconscious. They laughed at Viktor Yanukovych, but did not finish him off. No one was held accountable for the poisoning of Viktor Yushchenko.”

According to Gannitsky, it was precisely the reluctance to finish off enemies in 2014 that led to dire consequences for the country.

“The result of the all-forgiving euphoria of the Ukrainians-underwinners of 2014 was: the restoration of Yanukovych, the almost successful enslavement of the state by Donetsk bandits, the attempt of the prisoner-president to return the country to the Russian imperial stall, which ended in cold-blooded murders in the center of the European capital, the annexation of Crimea and direct military aggression of the Russian Federation” , - the journalist is indignant.

It is worth noting that in the period after the Orange events, Mikhail Gannitsky worked for a long time in the Segodnya newspaper, which was very loyal to Viktor Yanukovych, part of the media holding of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.
