The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, Mikhail Okhendovsky, was declared a victim in criminal proceedings regarding the actions of detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine against him.

“The Department for the Investigation of Crimes Committed by Employees of Bodies Fighting Crime, the Main Investigative Directorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office, is conducting a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of interference in the activities of a public figure, official negligence of detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal liability by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and disclosure of data from the pre-trial investigation against M.V. Okhendovsky,” the message says.
It is reported that this criminal proceeding was initiated in pursuance of the resolution of the Pechersky District Court of Kiev dated January 04.01.2017, XNUMX, which ordered the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine to enter the statement of lawyer A.I. Babich into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. in the interests of Okhendovsky M.V.

In addition, Okhendovsky’s lawyer Babich said that the defense will seek to bring NABU detectives to justice for falsifying the case materials.
“We will seek criminal liability for NABU detectives who falsify case materials, including examinations,” the lawyer noted.
Let us recall that at the end of February, the lawyer reported that the Solomensky District Court considered the petition of NABU detective Egizarov to seize the property of the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mikhail Okhendovsky, and arrested his car and 22 shares.
On December 13 last year, NABU detectives informed the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mikhail Okhendovsky, about suspicion of committing criminal offenses under Part 3 and Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Receiving a bribe on a large and especially large scale by a person occupying a particularly responsible position”). These articles were in force at the time the crime was committed.
The Kyiv Court of Appeal did not satisfy the appeal of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding the removal of Mikhail Okhendovsky from the post of chairman of the Central Election Commission.
