Lutsenko is making excuses for why they are putting the brakes on the case against Saakashvili
The General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine separated the materials of the pre-trial investigation against Mikheil Saakashvili into separate proceedings and stopped the proceedings due to sending a request for international legal assistance to the Netherlands, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Larisa Sargan.
The press secretary said that the materials of the pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings against Saakashvili were separated from the criminal proceedings against Dangadze on the basis of a resolution of the procedural director.
She clarified that the separation of pre-trial investigation materials from criminal proceedings “cannot negatively affect the completeness of the pre-trial investigation of other crimes and judicial proceedings.”
“During the pre-trial investigation on March 6 of this year, a request was sent to the competent authorities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for international legal assistance to carry out procedural and investigative actions with the participation of suspect Saakashvili. In this connection, the specified criminal proceedings were suspended on the basis of clause 3 of part 1 of Art. 280 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in order to save procedural time during the pre-trial investigation until the results of international legal assistance are received,” Sargan said.
Let us remind you that earlier the GPU suspended the case against Saakashvili.
