Lukashenko and Kyiv have problems: Putin is reviving not the USSR, but the Russian Empire
Ukraine and Belarus are in danger - Russian President Vladimir Putin has set himself the goal of reviving Russia to the borders of the empire of the late 18th century.
This was stated in an interview with journalist Dmitry Gordon by a former adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and now a fierce critic of Putin, economist Andrei Illarionov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Illarionov, countries lying within the former western border of the Russian Empire also fall under the “threat”.
“You mentioned that when Vladimir Vladimirovich consults, he does it either with Mahatma Gandhi or with someone from the same group. Persons at this level advised Vladimir Vladimirovich to resolve the issue of historical Russia. From his point of view, from the point of view of Vladimir Vladimirovich, the borders of historical Russia run along the western borders of the Russian Empire at the end of the 18th century, as it was after the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
This is along the Neman River, Western Bug and further along the Dniester. Much of what he said and did after he wrote in his 2012 article only confirms that he not only did not abandon this goal, but, on the contrary, sees it in the current situation that is unfolding in Belarus , and in Ukraine, a much more favorable situation for the implementation of this project.
But this does not mean that he will use only military methods for this. There is a wide range of tools for this... Vladimir Vladimirovich simply knows how to wait. Some things don't have to be done only by military means. Sometimes you can push, help somewhere, but there are other tools for this. And Lukashenko, and Belarus, and Ukraine are in danger,” Illarionov said.
