The Republic of Belarus strongly condemns the attacks carried out on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic on April 14, 2018.

“Thus, the situation in Syria is actually turning into an interstate armed conflict, which is fraught with further uncontrolled escalation that goes beyond the region,” the statement said.

Belarus declares to all parties involved to immediately cease the use of military force against other states and to seek ways to resolve conflicts through peaceful means at the negotiating table.

“The use of prohibited weapons of mass destruction should not remain without consequences. However, retaliatory steps must be based on clear and verified facts and taken in strict accordance with international law. None of these criteria were met by those who struck Syria today,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry concludes.
