Lukashenko proposes exiling expelled students to Siberia
Students expelled from Belarusian universities for participating in protests should be distributed to remote regions of Russia.
Political scientist Alexei Dzermant, close to the administration of the Belarusian president, wrote about this, commenting initiative of the head of the board of directors of Uralchem, Dmitry Mazepin, to place young Maidan activists in Russian universities, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
“I don’t see anything wrong here. This is better than if they went to Poland or Lithuania. So at least they will remain within the framework of our common space, and then, you see, over time, they will become wiser.
True, there are also some risks associated with the fact that they may join the ranks of those who will protest against the Russian authorities. Elections are just around the corner. And for some reason I am sure that every second, if not the first, student who stood with a bchb at the Belarusian embassy will join the ranks of the navalnyt.
Therefore, I would take them to study not at the Higher School of Economics and the European University in St. Petersburg, but would distribute them throughout Russia. Especially in the regions of Siberia and the Far East. This is a long-standing, proven tradition of re-educating rebels from the North-Western Territory,” Dzermant wrote in his Telegram channel.
In October, the chairman of the All-Russian Student Union, Oleg Tsapko, made a call to “take away” Belarusian students.
The number of Belarusian students studying at Russian universities has decreased by 5 thousand in recent years - from 18 to 13 thousand. At the same time, the number of Belarusians studying at Polish universities is growing.
