The Maidan activists did not have enough votes to erase “Russianisms” from the Civil Code
The Maidan activists in the Verkhovna Rada did not have enough votes at this evening meeting to remove the “Russianisms” they discovered from the text of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine.
“With this amendment, we propose to correct the word “income” throughout the text to “dokhid”, as it should be used in the Ukrainian language,” announced deputy Elena Sotnik from Samopomich.
However, her initiative received only 87 votes and was defeated.

Fellow party member Sotnik, vice speaker Oksana Syroed, who chaired the meeting, called on the deputies to vote more actively.
“As the author of these amendments, I will also allow myself to comment for my dear colleagues who do not currently support these amendments. You leave in the codes such Russianisms as “installment plan”, “appearance”, “delay”. That is, if everyone is satisfied with these Russian words, tracings from the Russian language in Ukrainian laws, then we can no longer support this. And we will continue, we will have a turnout, and... Everywhere it was necessary to change, in every code,” said Syroed.
"Thank you. The amendment concerns the word “turnout”, which was just mentioned in the previous speech. And we propose to replace the exclusively Russian word with the Ukrainian word “arrival”... Throughout the text, we propose to replace the word “non-appearance” in all cases with the word “non-arrival” in the corresponding cases, also changing Russianism to the Ukrainian word,” Sotnik announced the next initiative.
However, this time the required number of votes was not found in the hall.
Further, Sotnik’s proposals to replace the expression “has the right” with “has the right”, “filing” with “submission”, “rozstochka” with “rozterminuvannya”, etc. also failed.
