This opinion was expressed on the Russia-1 TV channel by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergei Zheleznyak, commenting on the removal of the Russian Paralympic team from participation in the Paralympic Games.
“For us, this is an obvious signal that the entire world system of the Olympic and Paralympic movements requires reforms. For a long time we put up with the fact that sports management follows the traditions laid down by the West. Now “our partners” have begun to use this not only not in our interests, but in order to humiliate our dignity,” Zheleznyak said.
He believes that Russia should act not only within the framework of sports organizations, but “along the entire perimeter of our contacts with the world.”
“Many countries understand: what they are doing to Russia now, they can later do to any other country in the world. McLaren and WADA have much fewer allies than we do,” Zheleznyak said.
