Medvedchuk now has one more TV channel in Ukraine
In Ukraine there is a new redistribution of the media market. This time we are talking about expanding the media empire of Vladimir Putin’s godfather, politician Viktor Medvedchuk. On June 14, 2019, Medvedchuk’s business partner and People’s Deputy from the Opposition Bloc Taras Kozak became the new and sole owner of the television broadcasters of the ZIK TV channel - the companies Most TV and TRC New Communications, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Thus, Kozak’s media assets now include three channels: “112 Ukraine”, NewsOne and Zik.
“By receiving ZIK, I will be able to build the largest network of news broadcasters, which in terms of resources makes them less expensive and at the same time creates their greater capitalization as an asset. And this asset is called the information media holding “NEWS”. It was for its development and management that I invited one of the strongest media producers in the country, Alexey Semenov,” said Kozak.
Kristina Berdinskikh, a journalist from the Kyiv liberal publication “Novoye Vremya,” commented on the situation with the TV channel on her social network page.
“I sympathize with my colleagues from the TV channel. The business renaissance of the godfather began about 4 years ago. And all this was explained by the war and his exceptional role. Now 112, NewsOne and ZIK are the Novini media holding.
The general producer of the holding was Semenov, who, after Petro Poroshenko’s defeat in the elections, resigned from his team’s TV channel “Direct”. Although according to the papers, “Direct” is the channel of ex-regional Makeenko, and not Poroshenko’s people. But everyone knows everything.
The worst will begin when Medvedchuk becomes a member of the Rada.
