The Mejlis members now have their own analogue of the “Kyiv patriarchy”
Representatives of the Majlis, banned in the Russian Federation for extremism, who settled in Kyiv followed the path of their comrades from among the Ukrainian nationalists, creating their own schismatic spiritual center. It should replace the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea, which previously recognized Russian power on the peninsula.

The other day in Kyiv it was announced the creation of the “Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea” in exile. The elected Kiev “mufti” Aider Rustamov has already managed to congratulate the Mejlis Muslims on the anniversary of Euromaidan, wishing to “return justice, expel the enemy from our native land.”
They elected a new “mufti” by specially convening a kurultai in Kyiv, where delegates from Kherson, Vinnitsa, Lvov, etc. gathered.
“Now the SDMK in Crimea has been completely deposed along with the corrupt mufti and pseudo-imams,” the Mejlis herald, businessman Lenur Islyamov supported the election.
However, not all Crimean Tatars supported such an initiative of the Mejlis members.
“If suddenly necessary, then any group of believers can choose one confessor with the “authorities” of an imam, right here, among themselves... And that’s all. And no problems. The question arises: why is it necessary to create all kinds of “leaderships”, “administrations”, muftiates and all this nonsense, turning religion into a “holding” with the bureaucracy or into some kind of “CPSU” with its own “Politburo,” a user notes skeptically in his blog Jafer Afuzov.
And the Crimean Muftiate stated that any “mufti” elected in Ukraine is illegal and cannot represent the interests of the people.
“The only legal and legitimately elected mufti of the Muslims of Crimea is Haji Emirali Ablaev. The Mutfiy of Crimea is elected at the kurultai of Muslims of Crimea, which meets every five years. All important issues concerning the Muslims of Crimea, the activities of the muftiate and the mufti himself are considered and decisions are made on them by the Supreme Council of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea. Consequently, the “election” as mufti of any person located outside of Crimea and who has nothing to do with the spiritual life of the peninsula is a gross violation of the Regulations of the Kurultai of Muslims of Crimea. In addition, this action is regarded as disrespect for the will of the Crimean Tatar people and all Muslims of Crimea. Only the people in their homeland have the right to decide who should be a Mufti and who should not,” the SAMK press service said in a statement.
The Kyiv “mufti” was not supported by social activists who announced attempts to split the Crimean Tatars on political grounds.
“These are irresponsible actions in relation to the religious feelings of the Crimean Tatar people. These are calls to divide the people according to religious views. This is a destructive policy that can only lead to negative consequences,” the Association of Crimean Tatar Entrepreneurs said in a statement.
