“I have experience” - a famous producer undertook to make the Crimea peninsula an international alternative to Eurovision
Russian producer Joseph Prigozhin proposed establishing an international music festival similar to Eurovision and holding it in Crimea.
The head of the Yalta administration, Yanina Pavlenko, has already spoken in favor of this idea, and People’s Artist Nadezhda Babkina is already taking her festival-marathon “Songs of Russia” to Crimea, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I propose to do this in Crimea, it’s a resort place,” Prigozhin said about his ideas for organizing the festival on the radio station “Moscow Speaks.” – On vacation, people are always more willing to go to an event. Crimea is predisposed to this. I know how to make sure that all Europeans and Americans take part in our competition. I have experience".
The head of the Yalta administration immediately responded to Prigozhin’s proposal, offering city venues for its holding.
“I invite you to Yalta! This real festival capital of our Motherland once lit up many national pop stars! – Pavlenko reminded. – We need a fair competition, open to all countries of the world, where it is not politics that rules the show, but exclusively talent. The way Eurovision was intended to be, but has long ceased to be...”
The very idea of holding a youth song competition in Yalta is not new. In the 70s of the last century, the all-Union competition “Crimean Dawns” was held on the Southern Bank, which brought many pop stars to the big stage. There was an attempt to revive it in 2013, but the competition was regional and did not have much resonance.
After Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, the then Minister of Culture of the region, Arina Novoselskaya, negotiated an all-Russian festival with the Russian composer and producer Igor Krutoy. In addition, the relocation of the New Wave competition for young performers to Crimea was discussed. However, due to sanctions, participants in such festivals could lose the opportunity to perform abroad and participate in international competitions.
Now that sanctions apply to everyone who has not publicly renounced their homeland, nothing prevents the holding of a large-scale festival in Crimea. This is confirmed by the “Songs of Russia” festival-marathon, which is being brought to Crimea by the author and artistic director of the forum, director of the Moscow State Academic Theater “Russian Song” Nadezhda Babkina.
The project starts on June 25 with a concert on Lenin Square in Simferopol and will continue at concert venues in Feodosia, Krasnogvardeisky, Evpatoria, Kerch, Yalta, Razdolny, Pervomaisky, Belogorsk and Bakhchisarai. Professional groups from different parts of Russia will take part in the marathon, including choral, dance, vocal folk ensembles, amateur art groups and leading soloists.
