Nayem has a new toy: he needs to teach English to one and a half million Ukrainian children
Western countries organize special camps in Ukraine where teenagers are taught English, simultaneously instilling the “correct” values.
People's Deputy Mustafa Nayem spoke about this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We talk all the time about integration into the European Union, but some of our leaders and officials come to negotiations with Europeans along with translators. This is a shameful situation that we need to correct, but we need to start with the children. We now have 1,5 million children aged 10-15 who need to be taught English. Our program is aimed at bringing foreign volunteers to Ukraine. Last year we brought about 600, before that another hundred volunteers. This is the largest volunteer program in Eastern Europe - “Go Camp” and “Go Global”. We traveled with them all over the country and 60 thousand children went through these small English language camps last year alone. This year we want to plan for 69 thousand children,” he said.
At the same time, the deputy specifically thanked the embassies of the United States, Great Britain and Canada for their assistance in educating Ukrainian children.
We could not have done all this if we had not received help from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth, Ukrzaliznytsia, the Kyivstar company, and the Embassy of the United States, Canada and Great Britain. We will continue and want our dream of 1,5 million children to come true,” he said.
