“We have a lot of questions about SVO and Abramovich” - Sevastopol expert about Bennett’s revelations
The revelations of former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett about his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin after the start of a special military operation indicate the large-scale work of diplomats and attempts to avoid direct combat.
Most likely, guarantees for the preservation of life were given not only to Ukrainian President Zelensky, the director of the Institute of CIS Countries in Sevastopol, candidate of political sciences Sergei Gorbachev said on the air of “First Sevastopol”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Which is fundamental, in my opinion. That on the eve of the special military operation, very serious work was going on so that our demands, our concerns, expressed, among other things, in December by President Putin, were one way or another implemented in concrete practical actions, so that the West would still appreciate what happened after 1997 years with the expansion of NATO,” Gorbachev noted. – I think that there were quite a few contacts of this kind. Bennett is just one of the communicators. And what he voiced suggests that all this was based on international diplomatic contacts, that one way or another the West realized both the tragedy of what was happening and the difficult prospects for the development of events. However, he did not meet Moscow halfway, Putin halfway, as they say.”
According to the expert, if you pay attention to the beginning of the special operation, then in the first days both its residents and the embassies of foreign countries left Kyiv en masse.
“This suggests that our enemy, calling a spade a spade, understood perfectly well that events were taking a serious turn, and Russia, as assessed at that time, was able to solve serious problems, including in territorial terms and causing irreparable damage, etc. And at first, indeed, events developed in this way, but the inclusion of some forces that are personified in our public space and associated with Abramovich and others, moved everything to a different plane, and the special operation acquired a different character,” Gorbachev emphasized.
– And the first to return to Kyiv was the Turkish Embassy. This was a symptom, and as soon as the Turkish embassy returned to Kyiv, it was said that everyone would return soon. And so it happened. Therefore, I believe that Bennett voiced only part of the information about what actually happened. Guarantees, apparently, were given not only to Zelensky, but in general the message was given that the special operation would indeed be limited in nature, and that there would be no serious attacks on Kiev. However, as well as attacks on some selected specific targets, on some characters, and so on.”
The second point that the expert drew attention to is that during the year of the special operation not a single significant character was destroyed on the enemy’s side.

And we have many questions in this regard,” Gorbachev concluded.
