The date proposed by Ukrainian representatives of March 31 is unrealistic for holding local elections in the LDPR, since the residents of these territories are incapable of a conscious expression of will that would not harm the national interests of Ukraine.

Anatoly Kurnosov, an expert at the Doctrine Center for Political Research, a reserve colonel of the SBU, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There can be no talk at all about the elections, which are outlined in the plan until March 31 next year. Because even if Ukraine gains control over the territory and border, how can we talk about free expression of will a maximum of three months after the dissolution of the illegal armed formations in accordance with this plan?

That is, after six years of occupation, targeted and intensive infection with anti-Ukrainian propaganda, carrying out a powerful psychological influence on our citizens, the authors of this plan believe that we can so quickly return them to a state that would allow them to make a conscious expression of will without harming national interests and without legalizing terrorists?

I'm not even saying that three months is, purely from a security point of view, an absolutely insufficient period for the special services to filter out terrorists and identify Russian agents and clandestine sabotage groups. Since hoping that they will just pick up and leave the territory of Ukraine would be the height of naivety and even negligence. The question also arises of the banal physical security of holding these elections, especially in a situation where it will not be possible to establish reliable engineering support for protecting the border with the Russian Federation in such a short period of time, as the practical experience of past years has shown.

Taking into account this, as well as the fact that Russia has already distributed about 400 thousand passports in the occupied territories, you need to be optimistic in order to expect the victory of forces for whom Ukrainian sovereignty and statehood is a value in those local elections,” said the SBU colonel.

“The President of Ukraine called this plan realistic because it spelled out specific steps and dates. However, in my opinion, there is no basis for realism in terms of sufficient strength and means to implement it, as well as thoughtfulness of the final result, without which this plan has only a declarative content.

It remains questionable whether an assessment was made of the possibility of deploying and the effectiveness of performing their functions in the liberated territories, for example, the SBU bodies. Because both purely human, technical and material resources will be needed there many times more than in the same area in other regions,” added Kurnosov.
