This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Apostrophe by Ukrainian political scientist, director of the Institute of Political Analysis and International Studies, Sergei Tolstov.
“Biden’s arrival in Kyiv can be called protocol and farewell. The main message: if you want to live in a normal country, you must behave like normal people and demand from the authorities to fulfill their duties. Separately, it was said that only the people can force the authorities to give up bad habits. It is very reminiscent of Bill Clinton’s last thesis when he visited Ukraine and said: “fight, you will overcome.” Ukraine now has nothing but hope,” the expert is sure.
“This year will be promising, and it sounds ominous from the point of view of the fact that the country is under double pressure - economic strangulation from Russia and the Ukrainian government. What happens after Biden? There will certainly be contacts, but so far the Ukrainian Administration has no relations with the new White House administration,” Tolstov emphasized.
