“We have no evidence of Putin’s involvement in Navalny’s poisoning” – Senator Cambon
There is no evidence yet of the Kremlin’s involvement in the “poisoning” of Russian blogger Alexei Navalny.
The Chairman of the French Senate Commission on International Affairs and Defense Christian Cambon stated this in an interview with Kommersant, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, answering a question about the “Navalny case.”
He noted that he opposes violence against members of the opposition.
“But personally, I refuse to point fingers at anyone, as certain media outlets do, and say that this is the work of President Vladimir Putin and his supporters. We have no evidence for this,” said the French senator.
According to him, Navalny has many enemies who could give such orders.
“I think, one way or another, in this case, the Russian authorities must do everything to establish the truth and, no matter who the customer was, punish those responsible according to the law. I do not pretend to assess who could have done this. I admit that these could also be groups seeking to destabilize the position of President Putin. This point of view cannot be rejected. But this is not a very good episode. It opens up new opportunities for Russia's enemies.
I think if this is not Vladimir Putin or his entourage, we need to find out who it is. At the same time, Germany must present its evidence and allow Russian doctors to work together,” says Cambon.
