“We have a lot of friends in Germany.” Putin explained why SP-2 will be completed
Russian President Vladimir Putin is confident that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be completed.
He announced this today at a big press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Nord Stream 2” is without a doubt, it is an absolutely obvious thing, like two and two makes four, a winning thing, beneficial for the economy of Europe in general and Germany in particular. Because another option is to purchase a more expensive primary energy carrier, American liquefied gas, at a price 20% higher than our pipe gas.
What does this mean? Reduced competitiveness of the German economy and higher prices for households. That's all, these are absolutely obvious things. You don't need to be a gas worker or an economist here. This is in line with the national interests of Europe and Germany.
Until now, in any case, representatives of the German economy (and we have a lot of friends there, a lot, without any exaggeration) and the political leadership of the Federal Republic, which is trying not to interfere, since this is a purely economic project, take an open position in supporting this project. There are 160 km left there, if you count on the thread version. That is, it is almost completed. I think we will finish the job,” Putin said.
He hopes that the new US administration “will treat its partners, its allies with respect, will not insist that they neglect their national interests, and will return to fair competition in world markets.”
Thank you!
