“Everything is complicated here”: Vilkul about Krivoy Rog
With the start of the special operation in Krivoy Rog, the economic activity of enterprises actually stopped, which is why the city faced a critical situation with regard to filling the budget.
The head of the Krivoy Rog military administration, Alexander Vilkul, stated this on TV channel 11, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From the point of view of the operation of enterprises, everything is complicated. In the first month of the war, almost everyone stopped. Then, for three months, we did everything to resume the work of enterprises. We worked with each enterprise individually, working out logistics issues - logistics of supplying raw materials, selling products.
But the situation is still very difficult, because 95% of the trade turnover of large industrial enterprises was the Black Sea ports, which are now closed,” said the head of the administration.
“Now a situation has arisen that logistics through Europe, firstly, is complicated - first you need to transport everything by Ukrainian railway, then by European railway, and then we have different gauges. Plus the capacity of European ports.
That is, firstly, it is difficult, and secondly, it greatly increases the cost. Plus, since the beginning of July there has been a drop in prices for fish and metal on world markets, so I can say that the four largest enterprises, four mining and processing plants in Krivoy Rog are now completely standing.
Other steelmaking and coke-chemical enterprises, a number of mines are operating at 20-30%. That is, everything is difficult for us economically. Naturally, this affects the city budget,” Vilkul said.
