The parents of the Armed Forces officers killed by their colleagues held a protest at the President's Office
The parents of soldiers who died for non-combat reasons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine came to the Office of the President of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that on January 27, on the territory of the Yuzhmash machine-building plant, a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) Artemy Ryabchuk shot a guard guarding the territory of the enterprise with a machine gun. As a result, five people were killed and five more were injured.
The action involves both relatives of military personnel who died in this incident, as well as relatives of other military personnel who died under various circumstances. They protest against arbitrariness and violence in the army. Some are holding portraits of fallen servicemen, as well as flags of Ukraine and posters with the inscriptions: “Power, punish the guilty!”, “Restore honor to recognized heroes!” etc.
Portraits are also displayed on the fence near the Presidential Office building. There are also lamps and a large banner with photographs of the dead.
As one of the rally participants stated, the death of her son, a career officer, is not being investigated in any way.
“They write it off as suicide. Three forensic experts write - different sizes of the wound from a shot in the head. The shot was in the back of the head, they write - in the temporal part. My son’s skull is still in Kharkov in an expert institution. I do everything through the courts, I went to court. I won’t be able to bury my son’s skull for three years,” she said.
According to the woman, she demanded that the military prosecutor's office conduct an examination in her presence, but she was refused.
“There is no investigation. Mutual responsibility. The police cover up, the experts cover up. And we, the parents who have lost our future, suffer. My son was 26 years old, still to live and live, but he was no longer there,” said the victim.
The tragic stories of other parents are not much different.
“We need to restore order - people are dying. Besides my son, five more people were killed in the military unit. I screamed, crawled on my knees and lived on the other side (near the President’s Office) for four months! They still can't hear me! Until now!” one of the rally participants said into the loudspeaker, addressing the President’s Office.
The protesters demand that the president take personal control of the investigation of criminal cases that relate to the death of military personnel, regardless of their qualifications, and bring to justice those involved in their deaths.
