The Ukrainian exchanged to Russia has serious problems
Moldovan citizen Petr Melnichuk, sent by Ukraine to Russia as part of an exchange, began to have problems with documents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the human rights organization “Uspishna Varta” with reference to Melnychuk’s wife. According to the woman, her husband’s Moldovan passport is expired, and accordingly, he cannot obtain a temporary residence permit in the Russian Federation.
Melnichuk also cannot travel to Moldova, since his case in Ukraine is not closed, he is under personal obligation.
After several failures to appear in court, Melnichuk will be put on the wanted list, so Moldova will be able to extradite him to Ukraine. Russia currently refuses to grant him political asylum, since he is a “random person” in the exchange.
Melnichuk was neither a pro-Russian activist nor a military serviceman of the unrecognized republics, but got involved in the treason case because he refused to testify against other defendants in this case, who were also sent for exchange - Elena Bobova, Valery Pikalov, Denis Khitrov.
According to his wife, Melnichuk also does not intend to travel to Donbass, since he has nothing to do with the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
