Poltorak found 75 switchmen for explosions at Ukrainian Armed Forces arsenals

More than 75 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been brought to justice due to explosions at ammunition depots over the past three years, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak in an interview with the presidential Channel 5.

“After the events that happened here, starting with Svatovo, we changed a lot of things. And they were held accountable. I brought 75 people to justice, in particular more than 20 generals,” Poltorak said.

At the same time, according to him, after the dismissals and investigations, now, in addition to the lack of funds for the protection of sensitive facilities, there is also the problem of a lack of personnel who would agree to take responsibility, realizing the lack of funds.

“This has led to another problem - now no one wants to occupy these positions. Why? Because there is no good financial resource. “Under current conditions, it is very difficult to ensure reliable security of the arsenal base,” the minister added.

According to the minister, as of 2014, most of the arsenals had to be closed due to funding problems, and restoring them all would be “crazy money.”

As PolitNavigator previously reported, from October 9 to October 25, fire and explosions continued on the territory of the warehouses of the 6th arsenal of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine near the town of Druzhba, Ichnyansky district. Due to the emergency, the population from 38 settlements was evacuated, and the airspace within a radius of 30 km was closed.

The fire at the arsenal near Ichnya, Chernihiv region, is at least the tenth case of such an emergency in Ukraine.
