This was announced by the head of the Main Personnel Directorate, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Artur Artemenko.
“The Minister of Defense signed an order that determines the procedure for conscripting officers into military service in 2017,” Artemenko said.
He explained exactly who can be called up for military service, according to the order of the minister.
“By decision of the Minister of Defense - the order will be sent to the Ministry of Justice today and will come into force after approval - persons under the age of 43 who have completed a full course of military training under the reserve officer training program, graduated from military departments, and have a higher education may be called up. below bachelor's degree and who have been awarded the primary officer rank. The period of military service for these persons is 18 months,” Artemenko said.
He also noted that after receiving a summons from the military registration and enlistment office, a reserve officer is obliged to arrive at a certain collection point within a certain time frame and begin to carry out the tasks assigned to him at the military registration and enlistment office.
“If a reserve officer fails to appear without good reason, he is liable in the manner prescribed by law. And the presence of valid reasons for failure to appear must be documented,” Artemenko said.
At the same time, Artemenko did not say exactly how many reserve officers who graduated from military departments at universities will be called up for service. He only noted that over the past 7 years there have been 91957 such people.
“We will call up as many as necessary to complete the first line. Because the situation on the first line is such that platoon commanders and company commanders are needed. I won’t tell you the staffing percentage of these positions, because I don’t have the right. I also want to say that conscripted reserve officers are the very people who keep the war out of here. These are the most scarce specialties that the Armed Forces need today,” Artemenko said.
