Poroshenko announced the next step to liquidate the canonical church
The Verkhovna Rada must pass laws on the forced renaming of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Former deputy head of the presidential administration Rostislav Pavlenko, who still oversees religious issues on behalf of the Presidential Administration, stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the ex-official, a “constituted new independent Orthodox Church” has been created, which is supposedly “approved legally, conciliarly, and prayerfully.”
“This changes the whole logic of what is happening now in the canonical life of Ukraine. We are talking about the creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Orthodox Church of the Ukrainian land, within the territory of internationally recognized borders,” Pavlenko.
At the same time, he noted that the UOC is part of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“Moreover, the leader of that state, Vladimir Putin, calls them directly – the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Well, if this is the case, then we now need to bring the secular side, the legal side, in accordance with what happened on Saturday. Laws must be approved. One of them is about the name, bringing it into compliance, and the second, very important, regarding the mechanisms of the so-called jurisdiction,” said Pavlenko.
As PolitNavigator reported, last Saturday in Ukraine created a new church led by a native from the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” by Epifaniy Dumenko, considered the “right hand” of Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko, anathematized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
