Yuriy Ruban, head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of the Presidential Administration, stated this today on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “112”.
“Due to Russia’s failure to comply with the Minsk format, sanctions are in effect. Now we need to ensure that Russian troops do not advance further and there will not be a full-scale war. Actually, this is what the initiative about these peacekeepers is dedicated to. The details are just being formed. We are not talking about an armed OSCE mission,” Ruban said.
From his words it follows that Kyiv does not count on the speedy deployment of peacekeepers.
“The mandate of this mission will go through the UN Security Council. This is a complex process. The initiative is important because it will demonstrate the positions of the parties during work in the UN Security Council,” the official noted.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that in September he is going to present the idea of introducing peacekeepers to Donbass at the UN General Assembly
