Poroshenko praises Trump and pours slop on Obama
The policies of the Donald Trump administration are more beneficial for Ukraine than the policies of the administration of the previous US president. Adviser to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Gorbulin writes about this today in the Ukrainian weekly “Zerkalo Nedeli”.
“The change of team in the White House gave a serious impetus to the issue of substantive assistance from the United States to Ukraine (including the notorious Javelins), the rhetoric of the new US President regarding Russia has become harsher, the activities of Kurt Volker are slowly beginning to advance the process that, seemed to have frozen itself,” writes Gorbulin.
Following Donald Trump, who said the day before that “Obama lost Crimea,” Gorbulin accuses the previous American president of indecisiveness.
“The story of the Boeing shot down over Donbass is very symbolic: just a few days after the crash of MH17, Obama knew thoroughly about all the circumstances and those responsible for this disaster. At the same time, he did not take a clear position on this issue until the end of his term. This story is also about the fact that the lack of political will ultimately leads to latent support for the aggressor and international criminals, giving them room for maneuver and the hope of avoiding punishment,” writes Gorbulin.
He is confident that Russia does not fit into Trump’s model of “peace the American way,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“And this means that for the United States, the fight with Russia is really serious and long-term. Relatively speaking, the United States applies on a global scale the classic concept of a monopoly on violence for any state - the United States cannot allow anyone (neither North Korea, nor Iran, nor “even” Russia) to challenge their desire to set a new geopolitical framework for the “legitimation of violence” – writes Gorbulin.
