Poroshenko announced the search for investors to turn Crimea into an island
Ukraine must begin preparations to cut a canal from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea along Perekop.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Valery Karpuntsov from the BBP stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, this would be a symmetrical response to Russia’s actions in the Kerch Strait and would turn Crimea into an island.
“I would make a more radical statement: I would say that let’s, if such things are happening in the Kerch Strait, let’s consider the possibility of creating a passage through our territory. At least now we should prepare, perhaps look for an investor for this. A peninsula can be made into an island. Let’s calculate this, let’s have this discussion,” Karpuntsov said.
Earlier, a petition appeared on the portal of the President of Ukraine with a proposal to create a canal from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea in response to the construction of the Kerch Bridge. The authors propose that Poroshenko dig about five kilometers of the canal and build a bridge in the Chongar area.
