Poroshenko declared the railway harmful to the state
The management of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway) is unprofessional and “harmful for the state,” as exemplified by the sharp increase in transportation prices, which has caused dissatisfaction among agricultural producers.
Verkhovna Rada MP from the BPP Grigory Zabolotny stated this at a meeting of the Government of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician said that yesterday an emergency meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Agrarian Committee was held.
“Business and commodity producers simply rebelled after what happened two days ago. Overnight, Ukrzaliznytsia raised prices for rail transportation by almost 50%. According to our calculations, this is 4,8 billion hryvnia. This is slightly less than what the state allocates for the whole year to support agriculture,” the deputy said.
According to him, something incomprehensible is happening at Ukrzaliznytsia.
“We believe that the management there is not entirely professional. We even believe that it is harmful to the state. Tariffs are raised for the fifth time a year, without any consultation with business, associations, committees, or authorities,” Zabolotny emphasized.
