Kyiv, January 25 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – The militia planned to launch a massive attack on Ukrainian forces on January 17, but the actions of the Armed Forces prevented these plans, says Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

“On the 17th, massive offensive actions by terrorist forces were planned in various directions. And the coordinated actions of the armed forces stopped their advance in any direction,” he said during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
In turn, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak added that the offensives were planned in three directions, without specifying which ones. “The terrorists were hit in the teeth along the entire line of contact, so today they do not have the opportunity to do this,” he claims.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier experts said that the loss of the Donetsk airport and the failures of the Ukrainian troops in the Donbass would negatively affect Poroshenko’s rating, so in Kyiv they are trying to glorify the surrender of the airport.
