Poroshenko admitted that Ukraine has nothing to pay off its debts
Kyiv may have problems paying its debts to the International Monetary Fund as early as next year.
Vadim Denisenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the BPP and a representative of the government in the Parliament of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, the deputy blamed these problems on the previous government, which was overthrown as a result of a coup more than four years ago.
“The main debt obligations to the IMF were made from 2004 to 14, when over the course of ten years, when there were two political forces in power, 45 billion dollars of loans were taken from the IMF. This was a period when there was a stable economic situation, moreover, there were periods of enormous economic growth. This money, unfortunately, was wasted, and now we are forced to pay for it,” the politician said.
“Is it possible to pay the IMF without receiving new tranches? Today it is impossible... Problems may arise with the repayment of debts of past years, from 2004 to 14, from next year. This could really be a problem,” Denisenko warned.
