The administration of Petro Poroshenko admitted that it is impossible to block Russian social networks 100%, but they called it their “achievement” to significantly limit the number of audiences of Russian sites.

This was stated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Shymkiv during a round table at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, channel 112.ua reports.
“It’s really impossible to ban it 100% and that’s a fact. Blocking systems exist at the url level, very primitive and simple, at the dns level. There is a question of traffic analysis, this is more complicated. Next is package management, when the discussion about package analysis begins, all these theses about millions and billions appear. You can cut off the audience on VKontakte using url, dns and traffic management,” said Shymkiv.
Shimkiv assures that the drop in traffic among the Ukrainian audience will allegedly “complicate the work of the Russian intelligence services.”
“At the same time, VPN and TOR select a lot of your data, in particular geolocation. And the fact is that this limits the ability of Russian intelligence services to collect data. This is also a question of limiting the audience. Already today, VKontakte is experiencing an outflow of users. For us, it is important to reduce the size of the audience, and for us, I consider it an achievement to reduce the size of the audience,” added the Poroshenko official.
