Poroshenko's Alzheimer's disease is progressing
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was reminded of his words four years ago about the unnecessaryness of martial law and its harm to the country.
Thus, during a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary factions on July 22, 2014, the Ukrainian guarantor stated that the country was already in a state of hostilities and the martial law would interfere with the restoration of the army and economy of Ukraine.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga recalled these words of Poroshenko in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“...A combat-ready army and its corresponding support are needed, which is impossible during martial law. Martial law prohibits the supply of weapons and dual-use products, but we need to win the war. Also, during martial law, state support from international financial institutions becomes impossible,” Poroshenko said.
Formerly President of Ukraine proposed introducing martial law in the country after clashes near the Kerch Strait, where Russia detained 3 units of the Ukrainian Navy attempting to enter the Sea of Azov without coordination with the Russian Federation.
Last night the Verkhovna Rada supported Poroshenko’s initiative and approved martial law for a period of 30 days in Lugansk, Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkov, Chernigov, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson and Vinnytsia regions.
