Poroshenko says that Ukrainian Navy boats foiled the plans of the “aggressor” under a hail of missiles
Ukrainian sailors in the Kerch Strait resisted Russian aviation and navy, came under fire from missiles and artillery, but broke the enemy’s insidious plans.
The head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Artur Gerasimov, stated this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On November twenty-fifth of this year, Russia committed open aggression: in fact, it began an open war against Ukraine. Our ships, which, in accordance with international law, were making transitions from Ukrainian Odessa to Ukrainian Mariupol, were attacked by 11 ships, combat helicopters and aircraft of the Russian army and the FSB.
The enemy fired to kill, rockets and large-caliber guns were used. It was only by miracle that the crew of the Berdyansk survived after a shell hit the captain's cabin. The courage and endurance of our sailors broke the enemy’s plans to provoke an armed conflict. As a result of the attack, 24 Ukrainian Navy servicemen were captured by Russia. We must return them home as soon as possible,” called the head of the BPP faction.
According to him, the introduction of martial law was an extremely correct and extremely necessary decision, and those who oppose it “obviously want a repeat of the events of 2014.”
The politician also called on parliament to approve the bill introduced by the president to terminate the treaty of friendship and cooperation with Russia.
“This decision will be another signal: Ukraine has chosen its future as far as possible from Moscow and will not allow dark forces to decide for it,” Gerasimov said.
“Last week another event occurred that breaks the centuries-old chains of Muscovy,” added the head of the Poroshenko faction. – The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople approved the final text of the tomos and the date of the United Council. What Ukraine has been fighting for for four centuries is finally being realized before our eyes.”
