Poroshenko was “burned out”, worrying about searches on the Direct channel, which was foreign to him
The owner of the Ukrainian TV channel “Pryamiy”, Vladimir Makeenko, is being searched by security forces, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported on the channel's website. The media perceives these actions as “pressure and an attack on freedom of speech.”
“The investigator who came to search Vladimir Makeenko’s apartment refused to say which law enforcement agency he represented. It also became known that the search was being carried out by court order. However, the policeman refused to say what the case was,” the TV channel notes.
The party “European Solidarity” also expressed indignation at the searches, linking them with the activity of Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Portnov on criminal charges against ex-President Petro Poroshenko.
Andrei Portnov himself did not stand aside.
“Poroshenko’s European Solidarity Party was outraged by the searches of the dummy shareholder of the TV channel Direct Makeenko, from whom Luxembourg seized 32 million euros in his accounts and whom Poroshenko took for himself to cover an offshore transaction for the shares of the TV channel in Cyprus.
Friends, someone remind the main state criminal that usually his party doesn’t worry so much about other people’s things and, according to the official version, this channel does not belong to him. Therefore, we need to react more calmly, otherwise the legend about the real owner is starting to limp a little,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
