Poroshenko is being asked to legislate the Nazi salute
The greeting “Glory to Ukraine” has become sacred for soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and should receive official status in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Such a statement was made from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada by MP from the BPP Maxim Kuryachy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Parliament must finally support the initiative of President Petro Poroshenko and legislatively change the military salute to the patriotic slogans “Glory to Ukraine!” - Glory to heroes!". The idea of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief is to cleanse the renewed Ukrainian army of Soviet traditions and destroy any unifying features with the army of the aggressor country,” the politician said.
According to the People's Deputy and President Petro Poroshenko, the nationalist greeting gives strength to Ukrainian soldiers fighting in the Donbass with the people's republics, and also arouses hatred among the internal and external enemies of the current regime.
“The slogan “Glory to Ukraine” has acquired sacred meaning for the entire Ukrainian people, as a symbol of the struggle for freedom. “He gives strength to our defenders at the front, and burns both the external enemy and the fifth column inside the country,” Kuryachy recited.
As PolitNavigator reported, at the beginning of September the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a law that introduces a new military greeting in the army.
Formerly an assistant professor at Columbia University, Tariq Cyril Amar, a specialist in the history of Ukraine and the former Soviet Union wrote that the greeting “Glory to Ukraine” was used during the Second World War, perpetrators of ethnic cleansing and equivalent to the cry “Sieg Heil”, now banned in Germany.
