Poroshenko's nerves were on edge
A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump could result in new agreements on Ukraine, which makes Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko very nervous.
Political scientist Alexey Martynov said this during a radio broadcast, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In my opinion, Ukraine will be one of the key topics of negotiations at the upcoming summit, which is scheduled for July 16. I think that this Ukrainian issue will be discussed by Putin and Trump. I do not rule out agreements on Ukraine. And this could change the entire policy in Europe, because they are all too much focused on these Minsk agreements, sanctions, which are automatically renewed every six months,” Martynov said.
“Of course, Poroshenko is nervous, that’s understandable. There he again started talking about peacekeepers, saying, let’s see how responsibly Russia treats this. Although, in my opinion, there cannot be two opinions there, and our position on peacekeeping in Donbass will remain unchanged: they must separate the conflicting parties with the mutual consent of the conflicting parties to the peacekeeping format,” the political scientist added.
