Poroshenko said that Nord Stream 2 threatens the military security of Ukraine
The Russian-European gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 will jeopardize not only the energy but also the military security of Ukraine.
The head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Artur Gerasimov, stated this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada conciliation council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are seeing a new series of hybrid attacks on Ukraine due to Nord Stream 2.” I would like to remind you that the launch of the gas pipeline will become an additional lever of Moscow’s pressure on the EU and will jeopardize not only the energy but also the military security of Ukraine. Russia has always used energy resources as an element of political blackmail. Therefore, those who support the construction of Nord Stream 2 are playing along with the Kremlin,” the deputy said.
Earlier, Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Yuriy Grymchak stated that Ukraine’s gas transportation system allegedly restrains “full-scale military aggression from Russia.” He also reported that the Ukrainian government considered in 2014-2015 the possibility of undermining the gas transportation system.
