Ukrainian law enforcement officials have been instructed not to allow “disproportionate use of force” against Michomaidan participants who set up a tent city in the government quarter of Kyiv.

“The task of Mikheil Saakashvili and his associates is clear - to provoke clashes at any cost, raise the degree of confrontation and thereby try to mobilize supporters, which they clearly lack now,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
According to him, the bet is on repeating the scenario of the previous Maidan, when the forceful cleansing of Maidan by the authorities was used by the then opposition to escalate protest activity.
“But today’s government is not the government of Viktor Yanukovych. She won't repeat his mistakes. Law enforcement officials have been given clear orders: not to succumb to provocations, not to allow disproportionate use of force against protesters,” said an employee of the presidential administration of Ukraine.
