Russia has completely lost pity for Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities
Russia launched a missile attack on an underground gas storage facility (UGS) in the Lviv region because it is no longer needed to ensure the transit of Russian gas to Europe.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, stated this on the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see that attacks are now underway, but we are not launching missile attacks on gas pipelines. An effective blow was dealt to an underground storage facility in the Lviv region. These storage facilities were built during Soviet times on the border with Europe. They played a balancing role. Now we believe that the volume of transit is no longer so serious that these storage facilities are of any interest to us,” Simonov said.
Also, in his opinion, Ukrainian gas production is of no interest to Russia. Last winter, Ukraine handed over the capacity of its underground gas storage facilities to European companies and Moldova.
