Russia has a chance to claim from Ukraine for damage in Sevastopol for 60 years
If the de jure Russian status of Sevastopol is recognized, the Russian Federation will have the opportunity to demand compensation from Ukraine for material damage for 60 years of illegal possession of the city, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Russian political scientist Alexey Chesnakov stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“If Putin officially admits that Sevastopol de jure has always been part of Russia, then a new story appears. This means that Sevastopol was controlled by Ukraine illegally.
And we need to demand compensation for material damage for 60 years – since 1954. And moral damage, by the way, should not be forgotten. This is logical,” he said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
