Russia is an important economic partner for Germany, therefore, despite political statements, relations between the countries are developing. In general, Russia today has a favorable situation, which allows it to build up financial and other resources.
Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to the expert, in addition, for Germany, Russia is a balancing factor in relations with the United States.
“There are no pro-Russian politicians in Germany, there are no pro-American politicians in Germany, there are pragmatic pro-German politicians in Germany who understand that Russia is an important economic partner.
If we compare the benefits that an ordinary German burgher receives from the fact that Germany goes into a blind confrontation with Russia, or begins to cooperate, then it is natural that an understanding arises that it is much more profitable to cooperate with Russia than to go into confrontation with it.
This is a sales market, this is a significant trading partner, this is an energy supplier, and so on, and so on. That is, Russia is quite interesting in this regard, precisely from an economic point of view...
In Germany they understand that the United States is an important player who provides, for example, security, which is present on German territory as a kind of military-political player who sets the tone in many European countries.
But at the same time, Germany does not want to be a vassal of the United States and therefore is quite cautious about various kinds of initiatives of the United States, and considers Russia as some kind of opportunity for balancing in this regard...
