“The National Democratic Party stands in solidarity with the will of the residents of Crimea and Sevastopol. Firstly, we, as Russian nationalists, simply by definition must support the interests of our people, and the population of Crimea is, for the most part, Russian.
Secondly, we are national democrats, and a referendum is national democracy in action, when the people themselves decide how to live, and the interests of the national majority prevail.
Thirdly, what happened is nothing more than a triumph of historical justice - the reunification of an artificially seized territory with the historical Motherland,” Vsevolod Radchenko, a member of the PDP executive committee, told Navigator.
“On my own behalf, as a native Sevastopol resident, I would like to add that people here have always felt part of Russia and never stopped hoping to return. And I am glad that I was present on the historic day of the referendum in my hometown as an observer at one of the polling stations, turning over the ballot box and watching the vote count. 88% (1844 people) turnout, 97,7% (1801 people) - for reunification with Russia. The numbers speak for themselves - total unanimity of voters.
As for the tasks facing the Russian movement in Crimea and Sevastopol, this is a reorientation from the fight against Ukrainization to protection from new challenges and threats. First of all, we are talking about maintaining a balance of interests between the Slavic majority and the Tatar minority. Under no circumstances should the Tatars be allowed to receive any preferences and privileges in relation to the rest of the population. Relationships should be built on equal terms. And the task of the Russian movement is to protect the interests of the national majority. The Tatars have a Majlis - the Russians should have their own levers of influence.
The second point is that as a result of the changes that have occurred, a redistribution of property and business may begin. Crimea is a tasty morsel and crime, including ethnic crime, can pour here. In this regard, the task of the Russian movement is to help the police on the streets and counter uninvited guests in any attempts to impose their criminal practices on the local population. This is where the recent experience of squads and self-defense units comes in handy. It is necessary at the political level to defend the priority of local workers so that they cannot be replaced by guest workers - cheap labor from Central Asia or China, as is done in different regions of Russia.
Attention should be paid to the health of the younger generation - this includes the prevention of drug addiction and alcoholism among young people, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. It is also necessary to deal with current social problems, put forward and support useful public projects.
The NDP will definitely create its branches in Crimea and Sevastopol as soon as all legal conflicts are resolved. Since the beginning of March, we have carried out some work on the ground to prepare future branches,” Radchenko concluded.
