“The Russians have these too!” – Karasev is scared by American B-52s in the Ukrainian sky
The decision to open Ukrainian airspace for American strategic bombers makes Ukraine a hostage to the nuclear games of the two superpowers.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev spoke about this on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As far as bombers are concerned, this is called unprecedented. What are we having, “Desert Storm”? Are they doing any surgery? For this we need a solution, this is our airspace. This is the first time such planes have such content. Do we have a decision from the Verkhovna Rada on this matter? Who even gave the go-ahead for these American strategic bombers, which carry nuclear warheads, to enter Ukrainian airspace? We underestimated it, it somehow went away because of local elections, Covid, something else. And these are very serious things.
Are we going to fight? Will Ukraine be the territory of nuclear sparring, flexing of muscles and nerves between Russia and the United States? What are they there - to the Sea of Azov, to the Crimea. We need to get away from this. So that our airspace is still available for these different games?” – Karasev was indignant.
“One more clarification, eight Russian fighters were “flying” these bombers. Were these Russian fighters also on our territory or what, or did they already take them there in the area of the Azov Sea? This needs to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, the relevant committee or the relevant deputy groups in order to explain what it was, what the grounds were for this, who gave permission. This is what the Minister of Defense should come out and say in the Verkhovna Rada.
Perhaps there were some reasons for this, so let's hear these reasons. And if there is no reason, then why? We are peaceful people after all, we don’t want superpowers to fight on our territory, and there will also be some kind of battles between aircraft with nuclear weapons and strategic bombers. There are such people in Russia too,” the expert added.
