Coronavirus infection was found among Russians in Belarus

The disease COVID-19, caused by a new type of coronavirus, was detected in 15 citizens of the Russian Federation who worked on the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in the city of Ostrovets.
This was reported by the newspaper “Grodnoenskaya Pravda”, a correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“As reported by the main health department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, 15 cases of coronavirus have been laboratory confirmed among Russian citizens who arrived at the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets. All of them are hospitalized and isolated. There are no clinical manifestations, an epidemiological investigation is underway, and level 1 contacts are currently being established,” the newspaper reports.
Earlier, the head of the IAEA Department of Nuclear Energy, Mikhail Chudakov, stated that 8 shifts of specialists from Russia work at the BelNPP.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2400 MW is being built according to the Russian generation 3+ project and financed by a Russian loan. Its launch is scheduled for this year.
