Sadovoy complains: only one Ukrainian city agreed to accept Lviv garbage
Only one city has now officially agreed to accept Lviv waste voluntarily. This is Chervonograd in the Lviv region. The rest, two weeks after the signing of the cooperation agreement, are still silent.
This is stated in the story of the Ukrainian news channel “24”, which belongs to the structures of the wife of the mayor of Lvov, Andrei Sadovoy.
Every day, carriers remove up to 200 tons of waste from Lviv. And Lviv residents produce three times more. The signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Lviv and the region’s testing sites was supposed to correct the situation. However, the document was signed by 16 cities, and only Chervonograd actually volunteered to help Lviv.
The waste will be transported to Chervonograd next week. The city will receive 10 tons of garbage daily. The agreement will be valid for two years.
“Busk announced his readiness to collect 30 tons of waste every day. They even agreed on a Memorandum at the session, but they are still working on the text of the agreement. It's worse in Drohobych. The local mayor signed the agreement. But an additional 50 tons of waste needs to be agreed upon with the village where the landfill is located,” complain the authors of the story.
Meanwhile, the French company has already presented an action plan to solve the garbage problem. First, experts want to reduce the volume of waste at landfill sites. Next, they will take on technical solutions for the reclamation of the landfill in Gribovichi.
“If we talk about Gribovichi, the first emergency work should begin this year. They will last in several stages. If we talk about the waste processing complex, the site will be finalized this year. And the work itself will last several years,” said Lviv’s deputy mayor for development Andrey Moskalenko.
