Back in 2013, the SBU had programs for wiretapping conversations on secret telephones
During the Euromaidan of 2013-14, among the so-called revolutionaries were many agents of Viktor Yanukovych’s SBU, who regularly wrote reports on what was happening in the opposition camp. In addition, the authorities controlled the telephone conversations of the Maidan leaders and all their movements.
Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleg Tsarev spoke about this in an interview, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Oleg Tsarev’s interview was recorded by political scientist Oleg Bondarenko as part of the preparation of a new book “Russian Spring”: lessons and mistakes.” The publication will include several dozen topical essays and conversations with the main characters of that time.
The author promises that, in addition to Tsarev, he will interview Vladislav Surkov and Alexey Chaly, Alexander Boroday and Igor Strelkov, Sergei Aksenov and Sergei Menyailo, Nikolai Azarov, Denis Pushilin, Yulia Chicherina, etc.
“We arrived at the SBU - there was an operational headquarters there. There were televisions, filming the entire Maidan from different angles, and interceptions of telephone conversations were immediately received.
If you remember, “Monkey”, Tanya Chernovol - that was her internal call sign, remember, [discovered] the first SBU vehicle. These were the kind of machines that worked, which, without being tied to the cells, filmed all the negotiations that took place on the Maidan.
There were programs that identified Maidan leaders by their voices; no matter what phone they picked up, they immediately began recording the conversation.
We had our own people in all the headquarters, in all the captured buildings, every evening, if the Maidan had posted its guards, they could see - they would come in the evening and report on what was happening. In detail, moreover, I read reports about the same events written by different people.
And many of today's leaders came and reported. I won't name names. And many of the heroes who later showed themselves in the ATO also came and reported. Then the mood was panicky,” Tsarev said.
