Serbia has no chance of resisting NATO pressure without Russian support, and Russia is now stuck in the Ukrainian steppes. In fact, the words of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov already indicate that the Serbs should not expect support from the Kremlin.
The head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy of SevSU, Alexander Irkhin, stated this on the air of “First Sevastopol”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“In practice, this Serbia itself, if we take NATO within the framework of the confrontation, has no chance in this case. An option, if, of course, we connect, but we most likely will not be able to connect... this was voiced in the speech of Foreign Minister Lavrov that everything is decided by the people and the President of Serbia,” he noted.
– Everything connected with Yugoslavia and Serbia causes, of course, a certain pain - this is an indicator of our weakness. We can throw the ball to the Serbian side, but we must understand that the Serbs remain our only consistent allies.”
The expert cited historical analogies of the processes taking place in Eastern Europe, showing their regularity.
“In conditions of our weakness, one mechanism can work, connected not with our strength, but with the fact that, in principle, the kingdom of Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, as an analogy of the future Yugoslavia, was created by the British in order to cut off the Germans from the Mediterranean Sea. And in this regard, by analogy, the reverse processes of liquidation of everything connected with the state of the South Slavs is the desire of Greater Germany to secure this corridor for itself,” Irkhin explained. “But here, of course, there may be some prospects that are not related to our national interests, but related to those British imperial balance sheets that could collapse in a similar way to the unification of Germany at the end of the XNUMXth century.”
“On our side, of course, in this regard, Russia is not fulfilling its geopolitical civilizational mission, which it should fulfill, that is, the narrowing of space along the entire perimeter of our borders, and it is very painful to look at. Because we will again find ourselves on the sidelines of all these conditions and events, expressing certain verbal emotional claims - and at the same time throwing this in diplomatic language at the responsibility of the Serbs, who, by and large, cannot do anything,” the political scientist concluded.
